How is unweighted GPA calculated?
Each course gets points on a 4.0 planning scale, multiplied by its credits. Add those quality points and divide by the total credits. An A and a B, three credits each, is (12 + 9) ÷ 6 = 3.5.
Average weighted and unweighted grades, and combine them with an earlier GPA.

The points are a planning scale, not a download of a particular district's handbook. A percent of 95 maps to 4.0. A percent of 90 maps to 3.7. Below 60 maps to 0, the same as F. If your school uses a different cutoff, the letter you type is the safer input.
Credits can be a whole number or a half, such as 0.5. One course is limited to 40 credits so a stray extra zero does not dominate the average.
The unweighted column ignores honors and AP. The weighted column adds the bump after the letter is converted, except for F. A 4.0 honors course becomes 4.5. A 4.0 AP or IB course becomes 5.0. The page does not cap the weighted average at 4.0, so a full AP slate can sit above 4.
Cumulative GPA uses the unweighted points from these rows plus the earlier GPA times its credits. It does not invent a weighted history you did not type.

Honors adds 0.5 and AP/IB adds 1.0 to the unweighted points. An F stays at 0 even if the course is honors or AP. The weighted average uses the same credits as the unweighted one.
A and A+ are 4.0, A− 3.7, B+ 3.3, B 3.0, B− 2.7, C+ 2.3, C 2.0, C− 1.7, D+ 1.3, D 1.0, D− 0.7, and F is 0. A percent uses the same bands, starting at 93 for a 4.0. Schools differ. Read your own scale before you treat the number as official.
Enter the GPA you already have and the credits it covers. The cumulative figure mixes those credits with the unweighted points from the rows on this page. Leave both boxes blank if you only want the courses listed here.
A blank row is ignored. A row with only a grade or only credits is rejected. Credits have to be greater than zero. Negative credits are rejected.
No. It is a planning average on the scale printed on the page. Plus and minus values, a local curve, and pass/fail rules are not looked up. The grade calculator is for one class, not a transcript.
